Citing the example of Zeus, a mythological god whose tomb was reportedly located on the island of Crete, the writer Euhemerus (fourth century BCE) theorized that all the deities in the Greek pantheon—including the god of knowledge and the arts, Apollo; the god of wine and the theater, Dionysus; and the god of constellations, ______ may have been historical figures who, through the power of myth, underwent apotheosis.
