In the West African country of the Gambia, the percentage of the population living in cities increased from 59.2% to 62.6% between 2015 and 2020. this upward trend in urbanization was seen throughout that part of the continent: from 2015 to 2020, the overall percentage of the West African population living in cities rose from 44.5% to 47.7%.
