Legislators in Ethiopia are elected via a first-past-the-post electoral system. In this winner-take-all voting system, the seat is awarded to the candidate who receives not a majority but a plurality (i. e., greatest number) of votes. ______ if several popular candidates are vying for the same seat, it is possible for a candidate to win an election despite receiving less than 50% of the votes.
