Conceptual artist Joan Jonas's first work, Wind (1968), is a silent film depicting people on a beach struggling to move about in extremely windy conditions. Wind has been recognized for bringing the principles of postmodern dance-which demystifies traditional choreography by foregrounding features of movement that ballet and other classical dance forms obscure (such as clumsiness, weightiness, resistance, and gravity) ________ to video.
