The 1913 Armory Show in New York City was a groundbreaking art exhibition planned by a collective of 28 artists, among them Mahonri Young and Maurice B. Prendergast. By this time, many of these artists tired of the staid realism that dominated American art at the time; the Armory Show aimed to jolt the artistic establishment awake with bold, experimental modernism.
