Visitors to Venice's Ponte dei Pugni, which translates as "Bridge of Fists," will notice white marble footprints embedded in the stone surface of this historic bridge. ______ organized fighting competitions took place throughout the seventeenth century, with the embedded footprints marking the exact spots where combatants stood before a contest.
