After much debate, ______ finally made a decision: the judges for the 1947 Nobel Prize in Literature would award André Paul Guillaume Gide of France with that year's prize "for his comprehensive and artistically significant writings, in which human problems and conditions have been presented with a fearless love of truth and keen psychological insight."
