The preponderance of studies on aqueous uranium (U)-including a 1997 study by Moran et al. were in oceanic contexts. In a 2020 investigation of factors influencing the abundance of the isotope U-238 in Xiligou Lake and three other lakes in northwest China, Zhao et al. therefore aimed to address the relative ______ of scientific knowledge on uranium isotopes in inland bodies of water.
