The Roman historian Suetonius's De vita caesarum, a biography of the Roman Empire's first leaders, is an extant work: it can still be read. By contrast, Suetonius's book on miscellaneous topics, Pratum, no copies of which is a lost work: it can be accessed only indirectly, through references to it in extant works.
