The arrival of humans to the Americas is thought to have ____ a sudden decrease in biodiversity throughout the continents. Although the extinction of species like the toxodon was likely the result of a combination of factors, from decreasing food sources to habitat destruction, most of these factors can be directly tied to the presence of humans.
