Included in Second Sight: the Paradox of Vision in Contemporary Art, a 2018 group exhibition at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art in Brunswick, Maine, was the work of artist Lorna Simpson, who is best known for her multimedia artworks that juxtapose images of African American women with text fragments. Her work challenges conventional notions of race, gender, history, and ________ she is credited with expanding the horizons of conceptual photographic art.
