To prevent excessive microbial growth in the closed habitat of the International Space Station, relative humidity is carefully maintained. Nonetheless, Veillonella parvula and other bacteria, which have the potential to damage spacecraft materials, can ______blank when routine crew-member activities (e.g., handwashing) produce localized humidity conditions that exceed the specified maximum for the station overall.
