Some pieces of music might have many meanings—the compositions of Marion Bauer can ______ as many different interpretations as there are people to listen to them—and so as long as a listener's interpretation isn't willfully absurd or the result of inattention, it is difficult to justify the claim that the listener has misunderstood the piece.
