During a recent investigation, archaeologists        an explanation for the consistent and seemingly deliberate placement of petroglyphs (rock carvings) near water analyzed several sites on Carribbean islands: They discovered that many of the pools near petroglyphs had consistent water levels year-round, creating perfect reflecting surfaces for the carved symbols on the rocks.
