Voting members of the 2006 Latin Grammys were impressed by Los Tigres del Norte's album Historias Que Contar and its contribution to the norteño genre, a form of regional Mexican music featuring accordion and bajo sexto guitar that first developed in northern Mexico in the late nineteenth century. they awarded the group the Best Norteño Album award.
