To determine the approximate age of ocher artifacts excavated from an archaeological site in China, archaeologist Fa-Gang Wang and colleagues collected samples of sediments surrounding the ocher artifacts; these samples were then analyzed using a method known as optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating. ______ OSL dating indicated that the ocher artifacts were between 39,000 and 41,000 years old.
