Despite the fact that what is now known as the Cassegrain reflector was first constructed by Bonaventura Cavalieri, the telescope is named after the seventeenth-century French astronomer Laurent Cassegrain. One might assume cases like this, where a discovery or concept is not named after the first person who discovered it, to be among a litany of examples of Stigler’s law.
