While researching a topic, a student has taken the following notes:
• Freezers and other cooling technologies use chemical compounds called refrigerants to absorb heat and release cold air.
• When a refrigerant absorbs heat, it undergoes vaporization, changing from a liquid to a gas.
• When it cools, it undergoes condensation, changing from a gas to a liquid.
• The refrigerant fluoromethane is a hydrofluorocarbon (HFC).
• HFCs are composed of the elements hydrogen, fluorine, and carbon.
