Nguyen et al. noted that while several earlier studies included a variety of habitats—wet and dry forests, savannas—and thus comprised plants with a wide range of functional trait values, the Mauritian investigation was restricted to rainforest taxa occupying climatically similar habitats, resulting in constrained ranges of such values.
