Although more documentaries are being made than ever before, too many seem ______, offering stories without any depth. In a refreshing contrast, Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson's 2021 documentary Summer of Soul (...or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) draws from present-day interviews to supply compelling historical and social context for footage of the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival.
