Fragments of ceramic griddles have been uncovered across southeastern Anatolia, dating to the Chalcolithic Period. Molina et al. wanted to determine whether the use-wear patterns on the griddle fragments were consistent with the cooking of oil-rich flatbreads. they cooked such flatbreads in reconstructed griddles and compared the use-wear patterns on the reconstructed tools with those on the fragments.
