In his experimental film Koyaanisqatsi (1982), Godfrey Reggio manipulates shots to accord with Philip Glass’s original score, variously applying slow-motion and time-lapse techniques to shots of commuters and rhythmically intercutting between the movement of water and the flow of automobile traffic, among other pairings, to create images and music.
