Bertie Marshall, a key figure in the history of steel band music in Trinidad and Tobago, made several innovations to the steel ________ so the instrument could be easily transported during Carnival, a cover to protect the pans from the sun, and amplification so the sound of the pans could be better heard over large crowds and other instrumentation.
