Each year, the Nobel Prize in Literature is given to an author who has, in the words of its founder Alfred Nobel, "produced the most outstanding work in an idealistic in 1947, for instance, judges recognized André Paul Guillaume Gide "for his comprehensive and artistically significant writings, in which human problems and conditions have been presented with a fearless love of truth and keen psychological insight."
