Included in We Wanted a Revolution!, a 2018 group exhibition at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York, was the work of multimedia artist Lorna Simpson. The impact of Simpson's work is the horizons of conceptual photographic art, challenging conventional notions of race, gender, history, and memory, and shedding light on the experience of African American women in contemporary society.
