Using data from Argentina and nineteen other countries, Filazzola et al. compared sites where livestock grazing is active with sites where it has been eliminated. They found that wild-animal abundance positively correlated with duration of grazer exclusion, indicating that following the removal of livestock (e.g., cattle), one adverse effect on co-occurring animal species imposed by grazing livestock may over time.
