In a 2018 article celebrating films depicting the Black experience, critics for The New York Times William Greaves's 1968 film Symbiopsychotaxiplasm: Take One and Spike Lee's 1993 film Malcolm X, praising the former as "a vital artifact of its time" and the latter as "electrifying."
