Though the musical groups Los Palominos and Banda Los Recoditos are often categorized under the catchall "regional Mexican music" label, they each adhere to distinct musical traditions. The former works within the tejano tradition, which originated in mid-twentieth-century Texas and northern Mexico. The latter, _____ follows the banda tradition, with roots in min-nineteenth-century southern and central Mexico.
