In 2015, geologist Peter Rogerson calculated that the geographic center of Georgia was a point 17.7 miles southeast of the municipality of Macon. Rogerson's calculation was more accurate than the one from 1920 by the US Geological Survey. this earlier calculation was made using far more rudimentary equipment only cardboard and string.
