In 1930, British economist John Maynard Keynes wrote that the number of hours people worked would fall to as little as 15 hours per week by 2030, as people would have all the goods and services they needed. The great reduction in the workweek that Keynes predicted has not happened, but people in some countries have seen some reduction. For example, the average number of hours worked per year in the United Kingdom from 1,900 in 1950 to around 1,500 in 2020.
